I had to spend $120 unexpectedly for tubing at Sugar Mountain (bc tubing was closed at the Beech Mountain Resort) and my 2 little ones weren’t able to tube. It would have been helpful to know the situation in advance. However, all the sites about the sledding hill says it has snow all season. The town has 3 snow machines for the hill and no website or social media that I located said the hill had no snow I understand the weather was warm last week and that’s the reason the snow machines weren’t putting out snow. This year we arrived and the hill had no snow. We even stay at a condo within walking distance of the hill. There are height requirements for tubing so the sledding hill is perfect. The reason we have to come Beech Mountain for 5 years is because of the free sledding hill. I come to Beech Mountain every year with my kiddos- two of them are young. Overall, if you’re skiing just adults, it’s great, but for small kids, it’s probably not the best option. They do have a great sledding hill that’s free, so bring your sled from home and get in some sledding. Also, our son who’s 7 got stuck on the runs basically every time down, and none of the staff was willing to help him with a nudge. It too was really expensive ($37) and they only do 1:45 sessions that start at the top of every other hour (8, 10, 12, etc.) this was problematic because if you bought your lift ticket at 10:15, then you either lose 15 minutes at 10 or have to wait til noon. The trails here are great, with good variety, but it just took way too long to get through the lines to get lift tickets and rental equipment.Īlso, the tickets on Saturday were pretty expensive. I wanted half day tickets so you have to buy those in person. I’d recommend if you are renting skis have them ahead of time from elsewhere, and buy your lift tickets online. We came last Saturday and it was absolutely mobbed.
